Guest Review: Were Seduction by Lia Slater

Kris' review of Were Seduction (Were Legends, Book 2) by Lia Slater.

After living over a century without the touch of a man, Ambria Nogle is surprised that seducing Count Kollens isn't all that difficult. Unfortunately, falling in love with the Were is just as easy. As an empath, she can see right through Kaige's brooding façade and into his heart. Now if only she can convince him that her heart is just as genuine.

Kaige isn't sure what to think of the wicked little witch who's stolen his nights and captured his thoughts. Their sizzling chemistry dulls his usually sharp senses when they're together, making him uncertain of her intentions. But soon he finds trusting Ambria isn't the problem. Falling in love with her is.

I have not read the first in the series and know that there was somethings that I missed, a big one being the world building that happens in the first book, but this was not too bad to just pick up and read. They never specified a planet that I can recall, so I am guessing it is either another planet or more likely an alternate historic Earth (historic because they traveled by carriage). They spoke of a Were virus of which there was an outbreak like a hundred years before in which many people were turned into Weres or altered some other way. Ambria was affected strangely, she developed empathic powers and stopped aging.

Ambria goes to this party with the intention of seducing the Count into making her is mistress for the sole purpose of getting money and presents from him that her coven can sell and get money for. Now at this point I was hoping that her high priestess or whatever had had a vision that this was her destiny or something besides prostituting out one of her coven. But I was wrong. So that made me irritated at her coven. Granted they have been taking care of her and sheltering her for 30 years without asking anything from her, but that is just too much. If she had volunteered to do it, that is one thing, but she was being guilted to do it. Besides that fact the story was good. Of course he eventually finds out about it and feels betrayed.

The overall series storyline is a to be continued but you get your HEA with the couple.

There was not a whole lot to the story, the characters were interesting but I think with me not having read the first book I did not have a vested interest in the characters. Ambria was a character who did what she felt she needed to do, and i can accept that but I was not totally impressed with her. She was not TSTL but she just did not click with me. I think I would have liked this more if I had read the first story before i read this one. Maybe I will go back and grab it.

It was a nice read I give it a 3 out of 5.

This book is available from Ellora's Cave. You can buy it here in e-format.
